Route Map:
This small WF meet was somewhat hastily arranged but, it was greatly enjoyed and appreciated....especially by, Frankie and Daisy.........and me!
Everything went according to plan and I collected Rich, Donna & Frankie from their home just before 8am and we headed over to Edale to meet Sleepy and Daisy. Sleepy slept in (or dithered about a bit too much - not sure which lol) so we had to wait a few minutes for him to arrive. We thought that we would treat ourselves to a coffee whilst we waited but, the coffee shop in Edale was closed. We were most disappointed, especially me as I had left the rainy North East at 5.30am in the pitch black dark and hadn't stopped for breakfast on the way!
However, we didn't have to wait for Sleepy and Daisy for more than a few minutes and, once everyone was ready, we set out on our walk at about 9.15am. The weather prospects were good for the day but, to be honest, it turned out to be mostly hot and humid - not my favourite conditions! We did catch a light rain shower towards the end of the walk but, not enough to cause any concern.
Anyway......on with the walk.
We set out from Edale and headed up towards Mam Tor summit. From there, we followed the path along the range to Back Tor and then Lose Hill (is there a cafe up here or something? - So many people milling around, I was sure there was a BOGOF offer that I had missed the coupon for lol - I was still dreaming about that coffee obviously lol). From Lose Hill, we descended quite steeply from the heights and then followed the wonderful field and woodland paths beside the river to return along the Edale Valley, via a couple of welcome refreshment stops at Edale YHA and the local pub, to return to our start point.
As usual, I took rather a lot of photos en route.
